Kansas City, KS- Robert Frias shared his journey to a new heart, highlighting his remarkable resilience and the support of his medical team at the University of Kansas Health System.

Frias was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in 2014. He underwent a LVAD implant before receiving a transplant.

His story includes the emotional impact of meeting Caitlin Hartman's family, who donated her heart.

Drs. Eric Shaw, Tyler Zorn, and Matthew Danter discussed the medical aspects, emphasizing the importance of donor and recipient health, the role of LVADs, and the long-term effects of immunosuppressants.

Dr. Danter discusses the criteria for transplant eligibility and the importance of being healthy enough for the procedure.

 Robert expresses his gratitude for the medical team and his newfound energy post-transplant. He plans to play golf and continue to live a healthy life.
